DJ BOO
Whether he is throwing down the best in hip hop, Reggae and classics in NYC, laying down instrumentals for local MC’s at Words, or teaching aspiring DJs at the Scratch Academy, it can be seen that DJ Boo is steadily becoming a recognizable name in this ever growing New York hip hop scene.
His skills as a DJ has given him the honor of opening up for the likes of Kool G. Rap, Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, and Triple Threat/Beat Junkies’ own DJ Shortkut. In November of 2003 Boo set the vibe in the V.I.P. room at New York City’s Anju during Nitin Sawhney’s Human album listening party. His talents are not just limited to rocking parties, for his name can be seen along side underground hip-hop artists like The Juggaknots, Kontrast, Adagio, The Ancients, Super Natural, ApSci, Consequence of A Tribe Called Quest fame, and Southern California based electro-funk artist, Uberzone. He can also be seen as one of the artists photographed in Barney Kulok’s Project Movement, a project that examines the ever-growing phenomenon of underground hip-hop through the words, thoughts, and images of those who live it. Most recently Boo has joined the teaching staff at New York’s Scratch Academy, a school founded by Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay that is dedicated to teaching the art form for DJing.
